Target Audience
This class is designed to benefit participants who will be using DCE in the workplace and whose jobs may involve some system administrative responsibilities. Application developers may also find this course useful.
Participants will benefit most from this class if they have:
- prior UNIX and system administration experience
- modest knowledge of DCE administration
Course Content
The course consists of five basic modules. Lab exercises alternate with discussion of basic concepts, administrative tasks, and practical hints.
Module 1: Introduction and Overview of DCE Administration and DCE Cell Manager
Module 2: Using Configuration Manager to Configure Cell Resources
Module 3: Using Namespace Manager
Module 4: Using Security Manager
Module 5: Miscellaneous Topics (including installing DCE Cell Manager)
Course Format and Objective
This 2-day workshop is designed to give a maximum of 20 participants hands-on experience using DCE Cell Manager to perform basic DCE administration tasks. Workshop participants will receive practical experience and familiarity with basic DCE concepts in action.
Course Dates
Classes are conducted monthly. We suggest making reservations at least 3 weeks in advance.
On-Site Training Requirements
To teach this class at your site, we need one workstation running DCE and DCE Cell Manager for every two participants.
